Students of Ajou University in Tashkent visited the Museum "Memory of Victims of Repression"

The Museum "Memory of Victims of Repression" is a scientific and educational institution of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. On the basis of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Repression" (May 1, 2001), a memorial complex "Martyrs' Memory" was built in Tashkent (August 31, 2002). The museum was established to perpetuate the memory of compatriots who were persecuted for their freedom and activities during the Tsarist and Soviet regimes. The scientific-thematic exposition of the museum consists of the following 7 sections: the occupation of Turkestan by the Russian Empire in the middle of the 19th century and the popular uprisings against it; The end of Turkestan's autonomy and the repression of the 1920s; Deafness Company (30s); Repression in the 1930s; Repression in the 1940s and 1950s; Repression in the 1980s ("Cotton Case"); Respect for the memory of the victims of repression in independent Uzbekistan.

The main tasks of the museum are: to study the causes and consequences of the policy of repression and to reflect it as an integral part of the history of our country; to educate the citizens of our country, especially the younger generation, in the spirit of respect for the memory of our selfless ancestors who fought for the celebration of independence and justice; to perpetuate the memory of the victims of repressions, to carry out and promote spiritual and educational activities related to their remembrance; to study the lives and activities of victims of repression; collection, preparation and publication of scientific and creative heritage; Regular enrichment of museum funds and expositions with various documents and other exhibits at home and abroad.
